INTERVIEW - SOUL CLAP

First of all I would like to know how old are you guys?

It seems to me you are all young, but your sound is special

because it is a mix between radical sounds of the past with

the contamination of today's electronic sound.

How much has living/growing up in Boston influenced you?

Aren't we all just babies? But we spent enough years working

it in Boston to learn a few things. We really owe Boston

(and being close to New York) for most of our sound,

because we always had to be really diverse.

You are one of the freshest and effervescent artists from this

new wave of house music, do you guys feel this responsibility?

Yeh we definitely are very serious about our responsibilities.

Doing the dishes, taking out the trash and of course feeding the dog.

Seriously though, we feel like someone

has to teach the kids about the history of dance music

and the foundation our forefathers layed down.

Between producing and playing which do you prefer doing?

What is the process in facing both experiences?

Gotta love both. Producing is much more personal and playing is

all about sharing with the crowd. We were DJs first so we definitely

approach production from that angle, sampling and

taking influences from the past.

Also our production is written to fit into our DJ sets.

What does the 90s represent for you?

A way of life, a lot of great music, or just good carefree memories?

We're always living a 90's way of life because we came of age in the 90's.

Its all about nostalgia for us. it was really a time of positivity in music

and that's the spirit we try to capture.

Traveling the world, which public has surprised you the most?

We're always surprised all the time!

In which city/country would you guys like staying in for a few months?

There's so many amazing things about so many cities.

Would you ever forgo vinyls?

Oh hell no.

What relationship do you guys have with fashion

and design in general?

Fashion and design is integral to our lives.

I don't see any separation between music, fashion,

design and everyday life. Its all part of the EFUNK.

Everybody's - Freaky - Under - Nature's - Kingdom!

Future-projects?

Yep, bunch of remixes, a new edit ep on wolf + lamb

black and then our album drops in the spring!

An unforgettable musician, whose name can’t you forget?

Miles Davis, George Clinton and that other guy whose name we forget..

What does the word “volume” mean for Soul Clap?

We promise to be good to your earhole :)
